Today, House Committee on Natural Resources, House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and the House Select Climate Committee Republican members held a forum titled "Pain at the Pump: Biden's War on American Energy." During Ranking Member Bruce Westerman's (R-Ark.) opening statement, he said in part:
"Let me be clear, despite the White House’s talking points, gasoline price spikes in recent weeks are not solely due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In fact, gas and oil prices have risen steadily since President Biden was elected. The numbers don’t lie...The President began his attack on U.S energy production on the campaign trail when he said, 'No more subsidies for the fossil fuel industry! No more drilling on federal lands! No more drilling, including offshore! No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill, period. It ends. Number one!'"
The panel of 27 Republican members heard from nine witnesses during the forum:
Rhett Bennett, CEO, Black Mountain
Kevin Bruce, executive director, Gulf Energy Alliance
Alex Campbell, vice president, Enduring Resources, LLC
Scott Germann, CEO, Chisholm Energy and Ridge Runner Resources
Dan Naatz, executive vice president, Independent Petroleum Association of American (IPPA)
Charlie Riedl, executive director, Center for Liquified Natural Gas
Kathleen Sgamma, president, Western Energy Alliance
Tim Tarpley, SVP government affairs and counsel, Energy Workforce and Technology Council
Chris Wright, CEO and chairman, Liberty Energy
