Today, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and U.S. Deputy Secretary Mike Connor announced the final Record of Decision for Glen Canyon Dam's Long-term Experimental and Management Plan (LTEMP). The Glen Canyon Dam’s reservoir is located in both Arizona and Utah. Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT) issued the following statement: “The Obama administration is once again making long-term decisions before the clock runs out. Today’s announcement is not about balance. The plan creates undue imbalance that undermines hydropower generation at Glen Canyon Dam. “Communities in seven states, including Utah, depend on this once low-cost and renewable resource but have been shortchanged by ignorant federal officials. This will have long-term negative impacts on an entire region that depends on federal hydropower for years to come.” |
