Next week, the House of Representatives will vote on the American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act (H.R.7), a bill that removes government barriers to energy production in order to create more than one million private-sector jobs and provide certainty for American businesses that depend on affordable energy.

The Wall St. Journal this week reported that “an energy boom is revving up the U.S. economy” and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in both the energy industry and the broader service industry. This article confirms what we already know - that American energy and American jobs go hand-in-hand.

The American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act expands access to new onshore and offshore American energy resources, creating OVER A MILLION new American jobs:

• OFFSHORE - 1.2 million jobs would be created by expanding U.S. offshore energy production to new areas off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.

• ANWR - Studies have shown that opening a small portion of ANWR’s North Slope to energy production could create tens of thousands of new jobs.

• OIL SHALE - According to a study by the RAND Corporation, robust oil shale development could create hundreds of thousands of jobs.

• KEYSTONE XL – The Keystone XL pipeline will create 20,000 American jobs and displace less stable energy imports with millions of barrels of safe and secure North American oil.

Real economic growth happens when government roadblocks to energy production are taken down to encourage private-sector job creation – without ‘stimulus’ spending or earmarks.
