Hastings Statement on Rescheduled Energy Budget Hearing

House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Doc Hastings (WA-04) released the following statement regarding today’s announcement that the Democrat Majority will reschedule the Energy and Minerals Subcommittee hearing on the President’s FY 2011 Budget:

“I am thankful that the Majority agrees with Republicans on the necessity of holding this oversight hearing. Few issues are more important to the American people than job creation and energy security and this hearing will focus primarily on the federal agencies responsible for those issues. It has been more than two years since the last budget hearing by the Energy and Minerals Subcommittee and this hearing will be an important opportunity to question Administration officials on the job-killing taxes and anti-energy policies put forward in the President’s budget.”

Background

The Democrat majority suddenly and unexpectedly canceled this hearing the night before it was scheduled to take place on March 4, 2010.

Last week, Ranking Member Hastings, Energy and Minerals Subcommittee Ranking Member Doug Lamborn (CO-05) and six other Republican Committee Members sent a letter to Chairman Jim Costa requesting that the oversight hearing be immediately rescheduled.

The hearing is now scheduled for Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 10:00am.
